Optum Testing Sites Focused Solely on Patients with Upper Respiratory Infections

Three testing locations dedicated to FURI patients, modifying hours

March 27, 2020

Optum New Mexico today is transitioning its three testing locations in the Albuquerque metro area to serve solely as Fever Upper Respiratory Infection (FURI) sites. This change will complement drive-through testing so that if a patient with COVID-19 symptoms requires additional care or a more in-depth medical evaluation, they will be brought into these clinics to receive that care.

As a result of these changes, Optum is no longer seeing any other type of visits at these three testing locations – Journal Center Urgent Care, Rio Rancho, and Tramway.

These changes will also require more extensive cleaning each day and is resulting in modified hours at each location:

  • Journal Center Urgent Care: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week
  • Tramway: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday
  • Rio Rancho: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday

Emergencies challenge the delivery and management of emergency public information, warning and emergency protective action notifications. The Albuquerque Joint Information Center (JIC) functions as a coordinated Albuquerque Metro Area public information system that will gather and analyze data related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in New Mexico and serve as a source of accurate and comprehensive information.
