June 17, 2021

In a news release sent out over the weekend, New Mexico state health officials urged New Mexicans to help reach 60% vaccination rate by Thursday, June 17 so that New Mexico can open its economy fully without any limitations by July 1. New Mexico is less than 35,000 vaccines away to hit this goal.
“Since the vaccine became available, we’ve worked to make it accessible for all Burqueños, with sites throughout the City and home delivery for those with mobility challenges,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “It’s been a long road, but together we are moving in the right direction to open up fully and enjoy things safely we’ve been missing since last Spring.”

COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and free and all New Mexicans 16 and older are encouraged to receive the vaccine to hit the target reopening date. State health officials have added numerous vaccination events around the state to assist in reaching this goal. New Mexicans aged 12 to 15 are also eligible to receive the vaccine. Go to and schedule your vaccine today.

The City of Albuquerque is participating in the goal to reach 60% vaccination by providing vaccines at Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority in collaboration with FEMA. The City is participating in another event with 1,000 students registered to receive their second vaccine doses tomorrow at the Albuquerque Public Schools Berna Facio Professional Development Center.
