ABQ BioPark Zoo Temporarily Closed While Following COVID-19 Protocol

Nov. 4, 2020

Out of an abundance of caution, City of Albuquerque Cultural Services Department will close the ABQ BioPark Zoo on Thursday, Nov. 5 after a guest services employee reported a positive COVID-19 test on Wednesday, Nov. 4. It has been determined that Zoo guests did not have close contact with the employee.

The Zoo will be closed while thorough sanitization following OSHA and New Mexico Department of Health guidelines is completed. Other employees who may have been in close contact with the individual were notified and asked to quarantine until they are tested and receive their results.

Anyone who purchased online tickets to the Zoo on November 5 will receive an automatic refund.

Since reopening, the ABQ BioPark Zoo and Botanic Garden have been following strict COVID-19 precautions including frequent cleanings, mask wearing, and one-way paths throughout the venues.

The Zoo and Botanic Garden continue to be great options for those looking for open-air, socially distant activities. Online advanced time-ticketing allows for contactless entry while limiting the number of guests at the BioPark at any one given time.
