- If you are 65 or older, or your household income for 2021 was $57,000 or less, you qualify to have your taxes prepared for free by Tax Help New Mexico. Book an appt online at Free Tax Prep (uwcnm.org) or by calling 505-247-3671 ext. 265
- You can also use the IRS freefile options below to file online on your own
- If your household income in 2021 was $73,000 or less, you qualify for free tax preparation with IRS Free File.
- If you are comfortable doing your own taxes, try Free File Fillable Forms Free File Fillable Forms | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov)
- Or use freefile with an online guided software program - IRS Free File | Internal Revenue Service

- If your household income was more than $73,000 in 2021, you can still file federal taxes free with File on Free File Fillable Forms | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov), and your state taxes free at Taxpayer Access Point - State of New Mexico
- Or you can purchase tax prep software online. This can cost you between $10-$150 or more depending on how complex your tax return is and how much help or extra products you buy. Look up some articles comparing the cost and quality of tax prep software before you decide which one to use.
