Credit Union Association of New Mexico Received Proclamation from City Council

The proclamation was presented by City Council Vice President Cynthia Borrego at the the August 5, 2019 City Council Meeting. Below is a letter from Mr. Paul Stull from the Credit Union Association of New Mexico.

Good Morning,

I was very pleased to attend the Albuquerque City Council Meeting last night, where our Credit Union Connected Academy at UNM Children’s Hospital received a very special honor.

The Credit Union Association of New Mexico and the UNM Children’s Hospital were honored with a Proclamation issued by the City, and officially presented last night. UNM Hospital President Kate Becker, myself and Connected Academy Principal, Jeremy Abshire were honored to be recognized at the ceremony. Joining our group was Mike Athens, CEO of Rio Grande Credit Union, his senior management team and the staff of Children’s Hospital.

Albuquerque City Council member Cynthia Borrego authored the Proclamation, and read it into the official record at the meeting last night. Cynthia is a great friend of credit unions and when she isn’t leading the City of Albuquerque, is a member of the Board of Directors at Rio Grande Credit Union. Many thanks to Cynthia and the City of Albuquerque for honoring our efforts to bring chronically ill children the hope of connecting with their home schools and classmates while they receive treatment at Children’s Hospital.

All New Mexico credit unions can take a bow for this program, because the hospital serves children from each and every county in the state. It is the only hospital to serve all of New Mexico. For this reason each credit union can share in the honor of participating in the Connected Academy and helping children from their community, no matter where they are located.

Thank you all for your efforts.

We are all stronger together.

Paul B. Stull
