New Closures Effective Nov. 16, 2020

The City of Albuquerque has implemented the changes below in response to the State’s Public Health Order effective Monday, Nov. 16.

Albuquerque Police Department

APD is encouraging the public to use online reporting during the next two weeks as a result of the state’s Public Health Order. APD’s substations will be closed to the public during this period of heightened restrictions. The public can submit police reports online.

ABQ RIDE & Sun Van

All ABQ RIDE and Sun Van service will shift to a Saturday-style schedule in the near future. View detailed service information on the Transit website.

Airport

The Albuquerque International Sunport is operational. View detailed travel information on the Sunport’s website.

Albuquerque BioPark

All Albuquerque BioPark facilities are closed.

Albuquerque City Council Office

Front desk is open 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday-Friday. Staff can be reached via telephone from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday at (505) 768-3100. Animal Shelters

  • Shifting to appointment-only adoptions
  • Anyone wanting to adopt a pet is asked to visit www.cabq.gov/pets to see available pets schedule an adoption appointment.
  • AWD is only accepting in person emergency admissions of stray or owned pets from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. No appointment is necessary for emergency admissions. Emergencies are: animals that are injured or suffering, having trouble breathing, bleeding, in pain or in danger of death, kittens or puppies under 7 weeks, trapped stray cats and animals that may pose a risk to public safety.
  • Animal Welfare will accept non-emergency stray or owned pets at each shelter location seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only. Finders of healthy stray pets are being asked to maintain custody of the pet until their appointment and look for its owner, as allowed per the HEART Ordinance.
  • Animal Protection Officers will continue operations to address public safety concerns.

APD Records

The APD Records Office is closed for walk-in requests. Submit a police report to (505) 768-2020 or [email protected]. APD Records personnel are available 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

City Clerk's Office

The City Clerk’s office is closed to the public but will continue to process requests to inspect public records that are received electronically. Inspection of Public Records requests that have already been processed will resume when the office is re-opened. Still accepting summonses, appeals, and subpoenas that are submitted electronically to: [email protected]

City Hall

All city buildings are closed to the public. Access will be granted to employees by use of badge only.

Community Centers

Community centers are closed to the general population. View information about Youth Programming.

Cultural Services

Indoor cultural facilities, including the Albuquerque Museum, Explora, Balloon Museum, Casa San Ysidro, the South Broadway Cultural Center, and the KiMo Theatre, are closed.

Economic Development, Film, & Small Business Offices

Closed to the public for in person service but can be reached by calling (505) 768-3270. View the Business Resources page for more information.

Esperanza Bicycle Safety Education Center

Closed for in person services. Learn about Pop-Up Bike Clinics.

Everyday Adoption Center

Closed.

Family & Youth Programs

Community centers are closed to the general public, except for ongoing emergency childcare programs for essential workers. Learn more.

Fire Marshal Plans Checking

Now accepting plans via email to be reviewed and approved. All Fire shop drawings can be emailed directly to [email protected].

Health & Social Service Centers

Open to provide critical services.

KiMo Theatre

The KiMo Theatre is closed to the public.

Large Vehicle Permit

Large vehicle permits are still suspended on city roadways at this time.

Libraries

All Albuquerque & Bernalillo County Libraries are closed. Dates for holds, checked out items, and library cards have been extended for the duration.

Lucky Paws Adoption Center

Closed

Open Space Visitor Center

Closed to the public. All scheduled events are canceled through at least November 30th.

Parks & Recreation

The following facilities are closed: Balloon Fiesta Park, the BMX Park, City pools, Esperanza Bicycle Safety Education Center, softball fields, City-owned Little League fields, golf courses, the Golf and Event Center, the Shooting Range Park, skate parks, and tennis and pickleball courts.

Paying Parking Tickets & Parking Permits

  • Parking offices are closed to the public for in-person services but can be reached at (505) 924-3950 or [email protected].
  • Parking Division is not forwarding parking citations to Metro Court at this time.
  • Parking citations can still be paid online. www.cabq.gov/parking
  • Parking structures are still open to the public.
  • Parking Enforcement will continue to monitor on-street parking and parking safety ordinances.

Planning Department

Plaza del Sol is currently closed to the public. Permitting services continue via telephone/email, and inspections and field work will still be performed. A drop box outside the building is set up for applicants needing to turn in any paperwork that cannot be electronically submitted. For these types of issues, staff will pick up and review submissions left in the drop box and then arrange for a time for applicants to pick up any permits or paperwork.

Senior Centers

Senior Centers remain closed to the public except for ongoing grab & go meal sites.

Senior Meals

The following centers will temporarily serve as pick-up lunch distribution sites between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday to Friday: Barelas Senior Center, Los Volcanes Senior Center, Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center, North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center, North Valley Senior Center. Contact the Center you would like to visit to reserve a meal.

Home delivered meals will continue to operate as normal for qualifying seniors 60+. Call the Senior Information Line to learn more: (505) 764-6400.

Senior Services

Transportation, Care Coordination and the Senior Information Line (505) 764-6400 are all operating as usual.

Solid Waste

  • City Solid Waste Management Convenience Centers are open.
  • All collection operations are operating as usual.

South Broadway Cultural Center

The South Broadway Cultural Center is closed to the public.

Westside Emergency Housing Center

Open.

WiFi

The City of Albuquerque has extended public access to free WiFi hotspots (wireless internet connections) by providing additional locations in areas where social distancing is possible. This will help provide internet access to as many folks as possible while allowing residents to maintain social distancing guidelines. Learn more.
