Compass Roses: Maps by Artists
When
Where
Description
Twenty-nine artists created unique maps of readily recognizable or imaginary places, and forgotten or unfamiliar locals. Locations depicted in the maps range from skateboard ditches to sacred spaces, while mediums range from tapestries to sound meditations to digital drawings. The project invites participants on a journey of discovery in which people can traverse, wander, wonder, reflect, and share, using an artist’s map as a guide. Full size artworks will be on display and smaller maps will be available for free at the exhibition and as free downloads on the project website.
This art exhibition is co-curated by Nadine Wasserman and Renee Piechocki and commissioned by the Albuquerque Public Art Program, the project features a variety of interpretations of maps and places.
An online artist talk featuring five-minute presentations by several participating artists about the maps they created will take place on Sat., April 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. Registration free and open to the public at https://bit.ly/3uZLyL8.
