ART Unveils New Improved Lighting In Time for N.M. State Fair

Just in time for the New Mexico State Fair opening, the Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART) project has turned on new improved lighting on Central Avenue from San Mateo to Louisiana. The lighting makes it much safer for pedestrians, cyclists and autos traveling on Central Avenue to the State Fair.

The new lights, which is on 24 hours currently during the testing period, has state-of-the-art LED bulbs.

Additionally, all ART construction from San Mateo to Louisiana is being halted during the annual event.

“The New Mexico State Fair is one of the largest events in Albuquerque, and it was important to the team that we do everything possible to make it safer for all State Fair attendees,” said Dayna Crawford, ART Project Manager.

Construction is more than 70 percent complete. In addition to the area around EXPO New Mexico, people will see new lighting, new landscaping, wider sidewalks and the station canopies. Heavy construction will be complete in November.
