Vegas-Bound Train-Like Vehicle Briefly Stops in Albuquerque
ABQ RIDE got a taste of what the future may hold for Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART), when a train-like vehicle made a brief appearance in the city on Monday, March 24.
The New Flyer Xcelsior©XN60 stopped off for a few hours at the Alvarado Transportation Center at First and Central SW. It was on its way to Las Vegas to become part of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC)’s SDX route.
It displayed many of the hallmarks of a future rapid transit vehicle; a sleek appearance, wheel covers. However, a true ART vehicle would likely have two more doors on the opposite side, as well as inside-mounted bike racks.
ABQ RIDE is looking at the different train-like vehicles available for Albuquerque Rapid Transit. This vehicle is similar in appearance to the kind that could eventually go into service in Albuquerque.
