City Updates Status of Facilities and Services under State’s New Public Health Order

City facilities and services reopening at limited capacity

In accordance with the newest Public Health Order, the City of Albuquerque is reopening some facilities at a limited capacity while continuing to provide essential services across all City departments.

Throughout reopenings and adjustments, the City continues to be focused on ensuring continuity in essential services for the most vulnerable, supporting working families who don’t have the luxury of staying home, and working to keep local businesses afloat.

As of Wednesday, December 2, the following changes to City facilities and services will be implemented:

311 Community Contact Center

Albuquerque Police Department

  • All Albuquerque Police Department substations will be open from 10:00 am – 3:00pm, Monday through Friday while Bernalillo County is under Tier Red.
  • The APD Records Office is closed for walk-in requests. Submit a police report to (505) 768-2020 or [email protected]. APD Records personnel are available 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • APD is encouraging the public to use online reporting. Submit police reports online.

Animal Welfare

  • The Animal Welfare Department will continue appointment-only adoptions in an effort to continue with its mission to save animal lives and also comply with social distancing recommendations. Anyone wanting to adopt a pet is asked to visit www.cabq.gov/pets to see available pets and to schedule an adoption appointment.
  • AWD is accepting emergency intake of stray animals, meaning animals in need of medical treatment because they are sick or injured and animals that may pose a risk to public safety. The intake desk will be open for emergency intake of stray animals from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week. No appointment is necessary for emergency admissions.
  • Animal Welfare will accept non-emergency stray or owned pets at each shelter location seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only.
  • Animal Protection Officers will continue operations to address public safety concerns.
  • The Everyday Adoption Center and Lucky Paws Adoption Center are closed.

City Hall and City Clerk

Cultural Services

  • The ABQ BioPark Zoo and Tingley Beach are open. The Botanic Garden will open on Saturday, December 12. Please see www.abqbiopark.com for adjusted days and hours of operation. The Aquarium remains closed.
  • The Albuquerque Museum and Balloon Museum will open today, December 3.
  • Explora, South Broadway Cultural Center, and the KiMo Theatre remain closed.
  • The Public Library will open today, December 3.

Department of Municipal Development

Economic Development, Film, & Small Business Offices

  • Closed to the public for in person service but can be reached by calling (505) 768-3270.

Environmental Health Department

  • Air Quality and Consumer Health Permitting offices remain closed to the public for in-person service but can be reached for questions or to schedule an appointment by calling 311.
  • Vehicle Pollution Management Test Resource Center remains closed, however, services are available by email at [email protected] or by phone at (505) 764-1110. Instructions available over the phone or press “0” to speak with someone. Please leave a voicemail if there’s no answer and the call will be returned quickly during normal business hours.

Family & Community Services

  • Community centers are closed to the general public, except for ongoing emergency childcare programs for essential workers.
  • Health and Social Service Centers are open to provide critical services.
  • The Westside Emergency Housing Center and the City’s 4 Health and Social Service Centers remain open.

Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency

  • Closed to the public for in person service but can be reached by calling (505) 924-3814.

Parks & Recreation

  • City pools are open at limited capacity for lap swimming and water exercise. Reservations are required and can be made at play.cabq.gov or by calling the facility directly. Reservations open up two days in advance.
  • Golf courses are open at 25 percent capacity. Tee time reservations are required and can be made by calling the course directly. Food and beverage services are open for takeout or outdoor seating at 25 percent capacity.
  • The Golf Center at Balloon Fiesta Park remains closed. Balloon Fiesta Park will reopen to daily users on Saturday, December 5 for groups of 5 or fewer.
  • The Jerry Cline Tennis Center and Sierra Vista Tennis Complex are open at 25 percent capacity. Court reservations are required and can be made by calling the facility directly.
  • The Manzano Mesa Pickleball Complex and Vilella Park Pickleball Courts are open at 25 percent capacity. Tennis courts in City parks with four or more courts are open at 25 percent capacity. Tennis courts in City parks with three or fewer courts remain closed.
  • The Open Space Visitor Center, Shooting Range Park, Maloof Air Field, and Boca Negra Horseman’s Complex are open at 25 percent capacity. Those planning to visit the Shooting Range Park are encouraged to call before arriving to ensure space is available.

Planning

  • Plaza del Sol is currently closed to the public. Permitting services continue via telephone/email, and inspections and field work will still be performed. A drop box outside the building is set up for applicants needing to turn in any paperwork that cannot be electronically submitted. For these types of issues, staff will pick up and review submissions left in the drop box and then arrange for a time for applicants to pick up any permits or paperwork.

Senior Affairs

  • Senior centers and multigenerational centers remain closed to the public except for ongoing grab & go meal sites for those 60 years of age and over.

Solid Waste

  • City Solid Waste Management Convenience Centers are open.
  • All collection operations are operating as usual.

Transit

ABQ RIDE fixed route service will continue the modified Saturday-style schedule announced last month. Also, some routes have been temporarily suspended. Sun Van service will continue to operate its normal hours. Updated schedule information is available at www.cabq.gov/transit.
