ALBUQUERQUE – Richard J. Barros works in the Department of Solid Waste for the Commercial Division and he is this week’s employee of the week.
This past Memorial Day a citizen had cut down his dead, 8-foot Spanish Broom in his front yard. The tree had died over the winter and he decided it was time to get rid of it.
After cutting the tree down, the man was struggling to tie it up with rope so he could call someone to take the tree to the dump for him. Shortly after, Mr. Barros pulled up to the house and offered to assist the man in getting rid of his tree. Initially, the man told Mr. Barros that he was fine and had almost tied it up and would call for someone to help him. Then Mr. Barros told the man that he was offering to take the tree to the dump for him.
Mr. Barros was on his way to check out for the day and easily could have just continued to his office and preceded to go home. He told the gentleman that it was no problem and took the tree for him.
The gentleman wrote a letter to the City of Albuquerque showing his gratitude for the actions that Mr. Barros took. He said "Hope you’re all well – I certainly am, with great customer service like that from the City of Albuquerque!"
