Councilor's Corner January 2016 Edition

Happy New Year!

It seems like 2015 flew by and now here we are with a bright and shiny 2016 in front of us. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and enjoyed your time with your families and friends!

Community Policing Council

First of all, I want to encourage all to attend your upcoming Community Policing Council Meeting in your area. They are very informative and a great way to help make a connection with APD in your neighborhood. You can find more information on the Northeast or Valley Community Policing Council

As a reminder, if you ever see any vandalism or suspicious behavior in your area happening, please call 242-COPS to report it. We all have to work together and police depend on your information to help make our neighborhoods safer. If you spot any graffiti in District 4 or around town, call 311. The City's graffiti removal program is excellent and usually can remove it the same day!

Project Updates

North Domingo Baca

Design for Phase III of NDB, the gym is underway. Vigil & Associates Architectural Group was selected to design the gym and they are doing a great job already. I was able to take a look at the initial, preliminary design and it looks great. The gym is being designed to include things like an indoor, upper level running track, rock wall, and amphitheater in addition to the large gymnasium. Senior Affairs is hard at work to start looking for the money for construction. Many more updates to come!

Street Projects

The Department of Municipal Development (DMD) has decided to fund landscaping of the Alameda medians between Louisiana and Wyoming. Look for construction to begin this summer. DMD is also getting set to erect a new traffic light at Louisiana and Holly. I, myself, use this intersection often and know that this is an intersection that desperately needs the light for better safety!

Fountain at North Domingo Baca

The design of the fountain installation for North Domingo Baca will be decided shortly with the help of some neighborhood representatives. Construction/installation should begin shortly thereafter. I am very excited to see the final product!

Should you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact my office at any point and we are happy to help. Until next time!
