Bradbury Stamm Announces Locations for Initial ART Construction

September 19, 2016 – The Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART) heavy construction will begin on October 17th throughout the construction corridor – Central Avenue from Coors Boulevard to Louisiana Boulevard. At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction during the entire construction period. As much of the initial work of median removal and infill as possible will be complete in the Old Town and Nob Hill areas prior to the peak holiday season, before Thanksgiving.  Traffic control devices will remain in place where medians were previously located, but all traffic lanes and turn bays will remain open in their current state during the holiday shopping season.  No work will resume in those two areas until after the new year.

Beginning October 17, construction will be at:

  • The north side of the street between Cedar and Ash
  • The intersection at University & Central, removing the median
  • Median removal between Stanford and Girard
  • Median removal between Wellesley and Carlisle
  • Median removal between Washington and Monroe

Beginning October 24, construction will be at:

  • The Intersection of Coors Blvd & Central
  • The median from Atrisco Drive to Tingley Drive
  • The median from Tingley Drive to New York Avenue
  • The median from New York Avenue to Clayton Street
  • The median from Broadway to Locust

Beginning November 14, construction will be at:

  • The median from San Mateo to Alvarado
  • The north side of the street from Alvarado to San Pedro
  • The south side of the street from San Mateo to Monroe
