Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART) Announces Free City Parking During Construction
In addition to hosting weekly events for businesses along the Central Avenue corridor and encouraging people to frequent these areas, the Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART) project team has announced the City of Albuquerque will be offering free parking at parking meters along Central Avenue and immediately north and south of Central Avenue east of Broadway during the project’s construction. (Meter time restrictions of two hours maximum will still apply).
“Central Avenue is and will remain open throughout the construction period,” said Mayor Richard J. Berry. “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to access the restaurants, shops and businesses they love, so we’re offering free parking to ease the burden of construction.”
With construction beginning October 17th and continuing through fall 2017, maps detail where parking will be throughout the duration of construction. Parking maps are available at www.brtabq.com, and those interested can also find construction schedules and updates pertaining to the project.
“Construction can be difficult, but it’s our goal to continue to help Central Avenue businesses thrive as our city undergoes this much-needed transit improvement,” added Berry.
The ART team will be providing weekly construction updates, free parking information, recommended detour routes and weekly promotions via an APP that is available on iTunes and the Android Play Store, and via text messages and electronic newsletters. To sign up for either the newsletter or text messages, go to the home page at www.brtabq.com. Additional questions can be answered via the ART hotline at (505) 398-4ART.
