“Mr. Slomo, the Slow Motion Commuter” Charms Crowd at the Alvarado Transportation Center Oct. 10

Preview of Dan Kamin Performance with the N.M. Philharmonic at Kiva Auditorium on Oct. 13.

Surreal and comedic are not words that usually describe noontime at the Alvarado Transportation Center.  But on Oct. 10, both those descriptions more than fit the bill for the entertainment provided by "Mr. Slomo," Dan Kamin.

The man who taught Robert Downey, Jr. how to be Charlie Chaplin in the movie Chaplin walked slow motion through the lunchtime crowds, silently greeting people, playing tricks with coins and cards and generally charming visitors to the Alvarado.

"Mr. Slomo" is one of Kamin's many comedic personas.  He will use one of them, his uncanny portrayal of Charlie Chaplin, to direct the New Mexico Philharmonic on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Kiva Auditorium.

Here's just some of what Kamin did during his performance:
