AWD “We Care” Community Pet Services Unit

The Animal Welfare Department (AWD) “We Care” Community Pet Services Mobile Unit is a wonderful opportunity for Albuquerque residents only to take advantage of free preventative services to help pets continue to live a healthy lifestyle.

Animal Welfare Department are offering appointment based services only, we will not be providing walk in services. Call 311 to make your appointment and to ensure you meet qualifications.

Animal Welfare Department (AWD) will visit several community centers throughout the City on a rotating basis. Dates, locations and sign up dates of the unit will be updated regularly on the AWD website.

Upcoming locations and dates to 311 call for an appointment:

  • Saturday July 25th- Westgate Community Center- All Appointments are full for this day
  • Wednesday August 5th- Los Volcanes Senior Center- All Appointments are full for this day
  • Saturday August 15th- Herman Sanchez Community Center- Sign up with 311 opens Monday August 10th
  • Wednesday August 19th- Westgate Community Center- Sign up with 311 opens Monday August 10th
  • Saturday August 29th- Los Volcanes Senior Center- Sign up with 311 opens Monday August 24th
  • Wednesday September 2nd –Herman Sanchez Community Center- Sign up with 311 opens Monday August 24th

Instructions on how to qualify:

  • AWD will only be able to make appointments for the first 30 Citizens that live within the city limits. If someone is not one of the first 30 callers, they should keep checking back with our website for future locations, times and dates of mobile van service.
  • This is a service for qualified low to moderate income families who are residents of the City of Albuquerque.
  • Services are offered on an appointment only basis to the first 30 citizens who call 311 and mention “AWD MOBILE WE CARE UNIT”.
  • Services include: Vaccinations, Microchip implantation, and Spay/Neuter surgery vouchers.
    • If just vaccinations, just a microchip or both vaccination and microchip, the citizen will be provided services through the van.
    • If spay/neuter surgery is needed, a voucher for services will be issued by AWD. The voucher will also cover vaccinations and microchip if needed. Those citizens who are issued a voucher will not need to visit the van. AWD staff will contact them with details regarding the issuing of a voucher.

Qualification is based on:

  • Residence within the City of Albuquerque
  • Total household income
