Those who work with Marc Chavez may argue that this kind of recognition is long overdue. Marc has proven to be an invaluable, knowledgeable and dedicated employee who has served the City of Albuquerque and its constituents and employees well.
It’s the work Marc did for the 2010 Mayor and First Lady’s Charity Gala that has earned him this recognition. Marc has ensured that the 2010 charity gala and all events in the years to come will be transparent and accountable-both financially and ethically. Through Marc’s coordination, a committee was selected to review grant proposals from non-profit agencies with a focus on assisting the homeless, serving the elderly, and creating jobs. ARCA; The Harmony Project; Silver Horizons New Mexico, Inc; and The Barrett Foundation were chosen based solely on the merits of their proposals; a first in gala history.
Since December 2009, Marc put in hundreds of hours, worked extremely late nights, and several weekends to coordinate a fantastic gala that brought in nearly 1,300 guests, a large-scale silent auction, a live-auction, live entertainment, and a night that won’t soon be forgotten. On top of that, the 2010 charity gala raised nearly $200,000 which will all go to our non-profit community.
Through Marc's organization and dedication, hundreds across central New Mexico will benefit by the funding the charities will receive.
