Keith Lewis is a security guard assigned to the Albuquerque BioPark, but works for the Department of Municipal Development.

Security Officer Keith Lewis, a city employee with the Department of Municipal Development, was working the graveyard shift at the Bio Park. On Monday, August 16, 2010, he heard burglars breaking into the Bio Park and apprehended them before they could do any further damage or harm to the Bio Park.

On Monday, around 1:00 in the morning, Lewis heard some noises coming from the patio area and went to investigate. That is when he noticed a hole that had been kicked through in the perimeter fence. Lewis saw two men hiding in the bushes and took immediate action and pursued them.

Lewis was alone, but he was able to apprehend the burglars and hold them until Albuquerque Police Department could arrive. The burglars were attempting to steal a Polaris ATV. When APD arrived on scene, they took the offenders into custody. The offenders were charged with burglary and felony conspiracy.

Thanks to Officer Lewis’ fast and immediate action Bio Park is safe and secure.
