Medical Plan Benefits

Information about medical plans for City of Albuquerque employees and participating entities.

New Healthcare Plan Options for You and Your Family

We’re excited to offer more healthcare options to all of our employees. We are moving from Presbyterian coverage here at the City to United Healthcare or Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage beginning July 1, 2024. That’s a big move for us and for many of the people that you work with. But we’re committed to providing the best coverage we can for you and your families at the City.

These new plans will offer quality care for you and your family, while limiting price increases.  Your co-pays and deductibles will not change, just the card in your wallet will. But, you need to sign up for the coverage or get left out. Your deadline is May 24, 2024, for all employees.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) provides access to the largest network of providers in the state of New Mexico. They have contracts with Lovelace Health Systems, UNM Health System, UNM Hospitals, and Optum to name a few. If you find that your current provider is not within the Blue Cross network, a Health Advocate Team member can be reached at 844-666-2521 (844-6NM-ALB1) and they would be more than happy to assist you in finding an alternative and assist with any required transition of care needs.

If you’re happy with your Presbyterian coverage UnitedHealthcare includes the Presbyterian, University of New Mexico, and Optum network of doctors, specialists and other providers. If you sign up for UnitedHealthcare, you can see the same doctors.  Visit UnitedHealthcare’s pre-member website at whyuhc.com/cabq or call 844-865-3663 if you need help locating a provider in the United Healthcare network.

Both also offer specialty doctors and access to a wider variety of coverages than ever before, such as specialty care in other cities. Also, since both of these providers have nationwide networks, you’ll never have to worry about getting sick when you’re out of town.

You can learn more about United at: whyuhc.com/cabq or call 844-865-3663

You can learn more about Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico at: BCBSNM.com by calling: 844-666-2521 (844 6NM-ALB1)
