2017 Annual Swim Pass Program

Free swim passes while they last.

Free Swim Passes

Free swim passes are available starting May 25, 2017, at the following locations:

  • Albuquerque Police Substations,
  • Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Fire Stations
  • Mechanical Concepts

Passes will only be available (one per child) through June 30 or until supplies last.

The Swim Pass Program encourages Albuquerque's youth to avoid the temptation of playing in the city's deadly ditches and arroyos. During the summer months, children are often lured to irrigation ditches and arroyos as places to play and cool off.

With June being the continuation of an early monsoon season, it is important that parents, the community, and public safety departments make ditch and arroyo safety a priority.

About the Swim Pass Program

The Swim Pass Program is organized by the Ditch and Water Safety Task Force, a multi-agency task force dedicated to educating residents in Albuquerque and surrounding areas about the danger of ditches and arroyos.

Now in its 22nd year, the program is specifically designed to encourage children to swim in community pools and skateboard at Albuquerque parks rather than in ditches and arroyos as a means of safe play.
