Be sure to stop by the Lucky Paws Van to meet the next member of your royal family. Take home an imperial pet for a special Faire adoption rate of only $10!

Birds of Prey

The Albuquerque BioPark will be bringing two Birds of Prey to the Faire from 1-3 p.m. Meet Rapper, Birds of prey 1a Swainson’s Hawk, and an African Pygmy Falcon named Hodari and learn all about these fascinating feathered animals.

Rapper is a larger, brown and white female Swainson’s Hawk that was found injured and taken to a rehabilitation facility. With determination she has since become an ambassador animal and is a happy girl who doesn’t let her injuries hold her back. Her age is unknown because she was wild-born but she is at least 19 years old.

Hodari is a small, white, grey and blue male African Pygmy Falcon that was born on January 28, 2017 in captivity and was then transferred to the ABQ BioPark in March 2017.  He contains a lot of personality in a tiny little package.  Don’t let his size fool you, he is a ferocious predator Birds of prey 2who eats large bugs and small mammals.  His name means small but fierce in Swahili. Both birds are predators and will eat bugs, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and even other birds.

*Bird Keepers have requested that during Rapper and Hodari’s attendance, pets are kept away from the area.

Living History

The Renaissance was a period of growth and exploration. Discover the rebirth of European civilization in the Living History realms. Inside the museum learn the importance of documents with Scribal Arts, map the stars with Astronomy Instruction and see how fabric was created by the spinners and weavers. Outside in The Village see what it was like to live during the Renaissance. Watch the blacksmith prepare tools and weapons, visit the archery station to see the variety of bows and arrows and don't miss the impromptu belly-dancer performances.
