The City of Albuquerque and Civic Plaza Presents are hosting the annual Local Band Showcase. Have fun at this exciting music event! Civic Plaza will be filled with a variety of music and genres performed by 15 local bands. It is an exciting way to cheer for your favorite artists and gain new favorite tunes. It is a family-friendly event. Enjoy an afternoon of music. Try delectable items from local food trucks All Smoked Out BBQ, Street Food Sensations, Irrational Pie and Loretta's Lattes. Sip on local beer and wine.

The Boomroots Collective
The Boomroots Collective brings high-level progressive reggae, hip-hop music, which has been described as "Jamaican funk with New Mexico soul". The Collective is a community of conscious artists bringing a unique mix of 2 genres for one reason… their love of music.
Cactus Slim and the Goatheads
New to the New Mexico music scene, Cactus Slim and the Goatheads is a trio that comes from Chicago, Detroit and Albuquerque. Formed less than a year ago this fun little east mountain boogie band can go from Cowboy Funk to Soulful Blues.
Impresion has been a lifelong passion of the groups founder Louie Gallegos and specializes in Polka music. The group has received multiple awards from the Latin Academy and even a "KANW Peoples Choice Award" since their reemergence in 2008. Their 2014 hit "Polkita Rosita" has been featured in KANW top 15 for over 16 weeks and plays in New Mexico, Colorado, and abroad.
St. Range, formerly The Strange, is a four piece "desert rock" group from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The members of St. Range bring their diverse influences and love for their surroundings to the stage.
Eryn Bent is a Montana-born singer-songwriter who plays as solo artist or with her trio. She has lived in New Mexico for five years and performs NM Music Award winning songs. She tours locally, regionally, and nationally. Rockicana!
Kyle Martin is from South Central New Mexico and hails from a long line of musicians. Kyle now carves a musical path of his own playing a sub-genre which he calls ‘Westrock’ (“highly amplified western themed honky-tonk style music played in a hard rock format with a heavy beat”). His sounds range from high octane cowboy rebel rock to two-stepping country waltz.
Darren Geffre Band
The Darren Geffre Band is a two-time Grammy-nominated group from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Darren is a seasonal performer that has opened for top artists Sheryl Crow, Rascal Flatts, Band Company among others.
Birthed from the treacherous throes of passion, duplicity and absolution, the duo Quietly Kept creates a unique acoustic sound; combining guitar drum and tantalizing harmonies. With the motivation of a jilted lover, Quietly Kept delivers a new wave of folk-rocker punk pop that always tells a story.
HiSS is a trio of teenage girls who have been playing together since 2012. They met at rock 101 and have been lucky enough to perform at Sister Bar, the Railyards, and even on TV.
Suavecito is a variety six piece band from Socorro, New Mexico. They consists of two guitar players, bass, keys, accordion, and drums. They have performed at a wide variety of venues across New Mexico alongside notable performers Al Hurricane, Al Hurricane Jr. and El Gringo. They play a wide variety of genres including country, oldies, R & B, Top 40, and Rock N’ Roll with an emphasis on New Mexico Spanish music.
Strike is a Native American family band formed of brothers Marcus Ridge, Brandon Ridge and Darrel Ridge along with family from the community of Na' Neelzhiin (Torreon, NM) on the Navajo Reservation. They share their native culture through reggae music; with songs celebrating indigeneity and survival.
The members Singing Pilgrims have been making Celtic music together for almost 20 years. Best known locally for their "Celtic Christmas Concert" series, the group is known worldwide having played Celtic festivals all over the country and has even played in Ireland.
Treehouse basement is an Albuquerque-based band that loves making music. They play with passion and write original feel good songs from the heart. They recently played at Fight for Fiestas hosted at the University of New Mexico.
Cynical Bird is a three piece made up of a Guitarist and Drummer from Albuquerque and a Bassist from Nashville. The trio plays electric and acoustic, pop, rock and americana music.
Kid Dinosaur is a five piece Albuquerque based indie rock group with jazz influence. They were the winner of the 2015 Best Indie Rock category at the NM Music Awards.
Admission & Transportation
The Local Band Showcase is free for the public to attend. Pets are welcome on leashes. This is a rain or shine event.
Paid underground / garage parking can be found at Civic Plaza or the Convention Center. Other parking may be found on the street or in other lots near the event.
