Bug Love and Erotic Aquatic Animals

Two Valentine's themed events at the ABQ BioPark to focus on love in the animal kingdom.
January 16, 2018 - Two adults-only events at the ABQ BioPark will help turn up the romance just in time for Valentine's Day.

The "Love Bugs" event starts at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Botanic Garden's BUGarium exhibit. "That's A Moray" starts at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Aquarium. Both events will talk about the mating rituals of some of the BioPark's animal residents.

"Attendees will learn about bug love and aquatic courtship behaviors at these unique events," said Pamela Dupzyk, ABQ BioPark Aquarium/Botanic Garden education coordinator. "Celebrate the month of love by exploring the mating rituals of various animals during educational tours."

The "Love Bugs" event will include bug encounters, educational tours and keeper talks about arthropod courtship. The "That's a Moray" event will include a guided tour focusing on the romantic rituals of aquatic animals.

The cost is $30 per person per event. Price includes a signature cocktail and appetizers. Attendees can extend their experience on either event for an additional $20 each with a delicious dinner in the romantic Shark Reef Cafe.
