Description

Hands-on discovery stations will educate guests about African and Asian elephant natural history and diet, how elephants forage and more. Special stations will also focus on conservation of the endangered Asian elephant. Visitors even get the chance to create their own enrichment items, which will be used as food discovery items in the exhibit.  

Join the ABQ BioPark on this fun filled to learn all about elephants around the world and your very own elephant herd at the zoo. Elephant Conservation Day is a local celebration of national Elephant Appreciation Day. 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts can also earn their elephant patch this day. Read about the Daizy Patch for Girl Scouts; information about the Boy Scout patch coming soon!

Asian elephants are very rare and your actions matter when it comes to protecting them and their habitats. Find out what zoos are doing to help Asian elephants and how you can help too!

Elephant Conservation Schedule

Zookeepers will present interactive training demonstrations with the elephants at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and will be available for keeper chats.

Stations and Activities

Discovery stations open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All activities will occur at the elephant exhibit in the Asia section of the zoo.
