The City of Albuquerque Cultural Services Department and Film Office present Anatomy of a Season. Filmmakers can join a discussion with Bridget Bedard, Sam Boyd and Dan Magnante as they breakdown the episodes of LOVE LIFE. The series premiered on May 27, 2020 on HBO Max, as part of the streaming platform’s official launch. Established and aspiring local filmmakers are encouraged to submit applications to gain exclusive access to these discussions.

Meet the Team Behind LOVE LIFE

Bridget Bedard is a triple-Peabody award winning television writer Bridget Bedardwho has also garnered a Golden Globe, both Writers' and Producers' Guild awards, as well as multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Her career in film and television began with NYU’s prestigious MFA directing program, which culminated with her short film premiering at the Sundance Film Festival. She then transitioned to television writing with season one of Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men, where she won her first Peabody, followed by Ray Romano’s Men of a Certain Age, where she won her second. In 2014 Bridget teamed up with Jill Soloway as the head writer on the first season of the acclaimed series, TRANSPARENT, the success of which is often credited with the launch of Amazon Studios. It was there that she won her third Peabody, as well as a Golden Globe and a Producer’s Guild Award. She became an Executive Producer going into Season Three and took on the role of Showrunner for Season Four. TRANSPARENT is the winner of eight Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes, a Peabody, a BAFTA, a Critics Choice Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Producers Guild of America Award.

In 2018, after four seasons of Transparent, Bridget signed an overall deal with Hulu where she was the showrunner on season one of A24’s RAMY. The show was awarded the Audience award at SXSW in addition to being nominated for Breakthrough Series at the Gotham Independent Film Awards and for three Golden Globes for its first season, winning one. After RAMY, she went on to sign an overall deal at WarnerMedia (now HBO Max) and is currently co-showrunning LOVE LIFE with creator Sam Boyd.


Sam Boyd, is the creator, co-show runner and executive Sam Boydproducer of the highly anticipated anthology series LOVE LIFE, starring Anna Kendrick. He also directed the pilot and finale episodes. Produced by Lionsgate Television and Paul Feig’s Feigco Entertainment, the series is about the journey from first love to last love, and how the people we're with change us along the way. Each season will follow a different protagonist over the course of many years, with each half-hour episode chronicling a new interpersonal relationship. 

Previously, Boyd made his feature directorial debut with the romantic dramedy IN A RELATIONSHIP, which he also wrote and produced. Starring Emma Roberts and Michael Angarano, the film follows the contrasting relationships of two couples over one summer. Shortly after making its world premiere at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, IN A RELATIONSHIP was picked up by Vertical Entertainment for a limited theatrical release. The film is a feature-length adaptation of Boyd’s 2015 short film of the same name, starring Dakota Johnson and Nicholas Braun.


Dan Magnante is the Head of Television at Paul Feig’s Feigco Entertainment, Dan Magnantewhere he developed and produced the Netflix film Someone Great and the television series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist for NBC and LOVE LIFE for HBO Max. Dan was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. In 2011, he graduated from Syracuse University and began his career at 3 Arts Entertainment. In 2013, he transitioned to film and television production at Feigco, where he was the assistant to Jessie Henderson and to Paul Feig on the production of SPY. He was featured in Forbes Magazine’s 2015 30 under 30 in Hollywood.

The discussions will be divided into two online sessions via Zoom, scheduled from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24 and Wednesday, July 1, 2020. 
Applications are closed as of Wednesday, June 10 at 4 p.m. 

Application deadline is Wednesday, June 10 by 4 p.m. If selected, the participant is required to view all ten of the episodes of LOVE LIFE. Links to the episodes will be provided courtesy of WarnerMedia and HBO Max. Space is limited.
