The Ventana Ranch Tennis Complex

West Side's Largest Tennis Complex

The complex was designed with 12 tennis courts and eight dedicated pickleball courts. If you're not familiar with pickleball, it is a relatively new sport that is getting more popular every day. Pickleball is played with a paddle on a badminton-sized court, and combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong.

Ventana Ranch Park is located on the east side of the intersection of Universe and Ventana Village Road, between Paradise and Irving.

Park and Pond: A Sustainable Design

This park doubles as an AMAFCA pond. Rather than directing runoff into storm sewers and out to the Rio Grande, ponding areas collect rainwater so it can percolate through the soil and recharge the aquifer. Building parks in pond areas is a great way to keep the ponds nicely maintained and create usable space where nothing else could be built. After a heavy rain, there may be one or two days that the fields and tennis courts are too waterlogged to use. But the infrastructure is designed to hold up under standing water, and the little inconvenience is well worth the acres of water that get added back to the aquifer.
