“It’s gratifying when a much needed project like this one gets underway. The City, the State, the County and the Little League have all worked together and our kids will be the ones to benefit!” said Councilor Dan Lewis, President of the City Council. The total project will cost $727,476, of which the City of Albuquerque contributed $225,476, the State contributed $450,000, and the Paradise Hills Little League contributed $52,000. Bernalillo County is managing the construction of the project. “I would also like to thank AMAFCA (Albuquerque Metropolitan Area Flood Control Authority) for their partnership in this area by collaborating with us on the construction of the Ventana Ranch Regional Park and the parking for the Paradise Hills Little League. This great partnership helped us create more soccer fields at the Regional Park and opened the door for the new Paradise Hills Little League fields.”
The project will include the construction of two new little league fields decked out with fencing, batting cages, backstops and dug outs, and 53 additional parking spaces. The project should be complete by the middle of October.
“The new fields and additional parking spaces will be a huge improvement to our League” said Patrick Garcia, League President. “We serve over 450 kids from all over the City and the support from our government officials will make a big difference for all of the Paradise Hills Little League members.”
