City of Albuquerque and Albertsons Market Pharmacy Provide Flu Shots to Seniors

Four dates scheduled for drive-thru flu shots in November

The City of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs is helping keep older adults healthy this flu season by partnering with Albertsons Market Pharmacy to offer drive-thru flu shot clinics.

“Getting a flu shot is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your health—and protect our health care system capacity—this flu season and we want to make that process as easy as possible,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “These senior flu shot clinics are another opportunity for us to look out for vulnerable members of our community during this public health emergency.”

Flu shots will be given to seniors between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on a first-come first-serve basis at Senior Affairs pick up meal locations. Those who are planning to attend one of these clinics are encouraged to visit, and download the flu shot clinic flier that details how to prepare for the visit. The dates of the clinics are:

  • Nov. 6: North Valley Senior Center, 3825 4th St, NW
  • Nov. 12: Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center, 501 Elizabeth, SE
  • Nov. 13: Los Volcanes Senior Center, 6500 Los Volcanes, NW
  • Nov. 19: Barelas Senior Center, 714 Seventh St, SW

“So many members of the community have stepped up to help us support seniors during the pandemic and this partnership with Albertson’s Market Pharmacy is another great example of how we can do more together,” said Anna Sanchez, Director of the Department of Senior Affairs.

Flu vaccines are a key component of keeping people healthy because they prevent illness and reduce the risk of spreading influenza to others. This year, getting a flu vaccine can help prevent you from getting a co-infection of COVID-19 and influenza and help save critical hospital resources to fight the pandemic.
