Description

This elementary-aged youth program at the Open Space Visitor Center includes hiking and outdoor exploration, hands-on science, literacy, and art activities. Program is offered once-every-other-month during the school year. Youth should be prepared to have fun exploring the outdoors!

Cottonwood Forest Creatures: Students will be immersed in the cottonwood forest canopy on a search for evidence of cottonwood forest creatures. Tracks, scat, skulls, pelts, and other biofacts will be presented to students to investigate and learn about the abundance of life that is supported by this ecosystem. After a 1.2 mile walk in the forest with frequent learning stops, students will take a well-deserved break to make Bosque animal art, listen to an animal story, and create a story of their own with a puppet show.

Tuition is $10 for the three-hour camp, registration is required at play.cabq.gov (Open Space → Public Programs → Youth Programs → Saturday Explorer Camp)
