National River Clean-up

Join American Rivers, the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division, REI, the Rotary Club of Albuquerque, the West Central Alliance of Neighbors and other organizations for this annual cleanup of the Rio Grande! Volunteers will meet on the northeast side of the Central Avenue bridge over the Rio Grande.

Arrive at 8:00 to sign up and enjoy donated morning snacks. Registered volunteers are invited to stay for a prize drawing starting at 12:30 p.m.

Bring work gloves, water, and sun protection. Parking is limited so please carpool!

Ways to participate:

  • Community Bosque clean-up at the Central Avenue Bridge
  • Organize  your own Bosque clean-up: Have a favorite area of the Bosque? Consider hosting a Bosque clean-up of your own! Open Space will provide trash bags and trash pick-up. Call 452-5213 to sign up! 
  • Clean the river in rafts provided by Kirtland Outdoor Recreation: Raft availability is subject to water levels. Spaces are limited so show up early the day of the event to reserve your place!
  • Clean the river in your own boat:  Experienced boaters are encouraged to clean trash in the river with your own raft, kayak, or canoe.You must provide your own transportation and shuttle for your boat.
