Festival description:
Somos ABQ and Spanish Broom present Somos la Maquina (Scape): a live interactive performance art piece guided and amplified by the desire to listen, move, create, explore and be informed by the surrounding ecosystem - the Bosque and the Rio Grande. Taking place on May 8th, 5pm at the City of ABQ Open Space Visitor Center, Somos la Maquina delves into a setting where humans can dream to exist cohesively with the natural world; to question and escape, to be unconfined, unconsumed, and unpressured by society, culture, or the machine and return to nature.

Spanish Broom mission:
Spanish Broom is an Albuquerque based Flamenco music and dance collaborative. Our mission is to sustain a collective of artists, whose collaboration is a base for creativity, accessibility and financial support. We strive to share our art and encourage our community to create with us. We consist of 9 members of various backgrounds and disciplines.

Spanish Broom description:
We move as a reaction to our place. We create in collaboration with our environment. We are actively resonating with our community, ever expanding its boundaries and persistently pushing our own. We thrill in our mistakes; each one is a path that we can navigate together, and we do so with love and laughter, always in awe of our compadres (companions). Flamenco is a social expression, the product of community, of family, of friendships and partnerships that relish in the dedication and innovation that the art form inspires. Spanish Broom is a blooming, powerful force. We approach our creations as an equipo(team), supporting each other to grow, to be brave, to be curious, to be beautiful. What you see is a true expression of collaboration and an intimate appreciation of art.
