Family Nature Club: Valuable Volunteering
When
Where
Description
Join an Open Space education park ranger on a family-friendly hike and engage in hands-on learning together as a family, listen to natural history fun facts, enjoy storytelling, and seek out wildlife. Program is offered once-a-month at various Open Space public lands. Please arrive prepared to have fun in the outdoors.
Valuable Volunteering: Support your public lands at the Open Space Indian School Trailhead by participating in an annual Spring Clean-up, a public community service event. An Open Space educator will lead a family-focused service project as part of this larger Open Space event. Learn how to use various trail tools such as mattocks, loppers, and spades and then utilize those skills to help the animals, plants, and the land they depend on.
Trail is packed-gravel with some elevation gain and will accommodate larger-wheeled strollers. Parking and porta-potty toilet facilities are available.
Program is free, but registration is required at play.cabq.gov (Open Space → Public Programs → Family Programs → Family Nature Club Hikes)
