Description

Join an Open Space education park ranger with your little one and enjoy making discoveries about the natural world with hands-on science, story time, and an art project. Afterward, you'll leave with a packet of ideas and activities to continue discovering at home.

Program takes place at the Open Space Visitor Center in both the activities room and outside. Please arrive prepared to have fun in the outdoors and get into nature. Classes take place once-a-month and topics vary seasonally. Parking and restroom facilities available at the Visitor Center.

Wild Food Webs: Join an Open Space Educator on the path to discover how life is connected! Families will begin by creating a life-sized model of a food web with the help of puppets, yarn, and character cards. Afterwards, students will get their chance to wiggle around as they become both predators and prey in a game of tag outdoors. Camp will end by solidifying our understanding of predator/prey relationships with an owl pellet dissection and story time.

Program is $5 per family, registration is required at play.cabq.gov (Open Space → Public Programs → Family Programs → Discovery Days)
