35th Anniversary Celebration! Honoring Our Past and Building Our Future

Since its beginnings in 1984, the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division has been working to preserve environmentally and culturally important lands throughout the Albuquerque area. The 35th Anniversary Celebration is a great way to learn more about the Division and the varied lands we manage, while taking in a festive environment, birthday cake and family activities at our beautiful Open Space Visitor Center.

Description

Since its beginnings in 1984, the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division has been working to preserve environmentally and culturally important lands throughout the Albuquerque area. The 35th Anniversary Celebration is a great way to learn more about the Division and the varied lands we manage, while taking in a festive environment, birthday cake and family activities at our beautiful Open Space Visitor Center.  

 Scheduled Activities: 

  • 11:30am: Launch of the CABQ Open Space 35 Geocache. The Open Space Division in partnership with the local geocache community will      present an exciting new geocache activity. Find all eight geocaches in the     series, and you will earn a commemorative coin!
  • 1:00pm-2:00pm: The History of Open Space, a presentation by former Open Space Superintendent Rex Funk. 
  • 2:00pm-3:00pm: Open Space Panel Discussion. Join some of the pioneers of the City’s Open Space Program in a conversation about the Division's legacy and future.
  • 3:00pm-4:00pm: Honors and Awards Presentation and Refreshments.
