Description

Join the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division’s annual National River Cleanup event on Saturday May 15. Open Space staff will be hosting trash cleanup events at various locations along the Rio Grande in the Albuquerque area. The Bosque and the river are great places to escape the heat of the summer and enjoy nature.

Last year, the Open Space Division saw record breaking numbers of visitors enjoying the sandy beaches along the river and getting exercise along the Bosque trails. If you were one of the many visitors who recently discovered the relief that Open Space areas offered during the COVID isolation, or if you are a long time visitor of the Bosque, please help us take care of this treasured natural resource that runs through the heart of our city.

The Open Space Division will be providing tools and trash bags. Volunteers should plan on showing up at their chosen locations at 8:30 AM and crews will be working until 12:00 noon. This is a family friendly event. Volunteers should bring sun screen, snacks, water, gloves, and dress appropriately for working outdoors with a hat, long pants, boots or sturdy shoes. Due to COVID 19 restrictions group sizes will be limited to 20 volunteers per location.
