The three levels of rewards and recognition programs offered to employees of the City of Albuquerque

The City of Albuquerque has a workforce of the most diverse and talented public employees in the state of New Mexico. As a result, the city is proud to keep our amazing employees motivated and supported in their commitment to public service and making Albuquerque great.

The City of Albuquerque offers three distinct levels of recognition and reward for our employees.

Level One - Employee of the Week:

Employees of the Week are City workers who go above and beyond their job duties in their service to the public. The Mayor’s office also offers “Friday’s Heroes” recognitions as well as “Good Samaritan” recognitions on an ongoing basis.

Employees of the Week are awarded a City of Albuquerque Mug, Letter for their Personnel file, certificate from the Mayor, and a free parking spot for a week

Friday’s Heroes: A special, commissioned coin for public safety

Good Samaritan: Certificate signed by the Mayor and  passes to the ABQ Bio Park (depending on age of recipient)

Level Two – Quarterly Employee Recognition Program

This Quarterly Employee Recognition Program is intended to encourage City employees to go beyond our citizens' expectations and meet the highest standards of service to the community.

Employees are awarded based on outstanding service in one of six different categories and are awarded one day of paid leave to be used during the year

Level Three – The Efficiency, Stewardship and Excellence Team Efficiency Bonus

City of Albuquerque employees who suggest money-saving ideas are eligible for the Team Efficiency Bonus. The City's Efficiency Advisory Committee will review suggestions for viability and cost savings.

Employees who submit cost-saving efficiency ideas are eligible for a team bonus of up to $1,000 value depending on cost savings to the city.
