Fire Chief James Breen Promotes Deputy Chief

Albuquerque Fire Chief James Breen promoted the third deputy chief of his administration Thursday.

During a ceremony at the Albuquerque Fire Academy on Thursday February 10th, 2011 Chief James Breen promoted Nathaniel Muzik to head his department’s Fire Marshal’s Office and Fleet/Logistics Division. Twenty-eight other firefighters including one battalion commander and four captains were also promoted Thursday.

“These firefighters are a fine example of how committed the Albuquerque Fire Department is to serving the community,” Chief Breen said. “All of them have worked hard in their careers to excel in the fire service.”

Muzik graduated from the 53rd cadet class in 1993. After graduating, his first firefighter assignment was at Station 15. He remained there for 2 years before going to Station 11.
Muzik graduated from Paramedic School in November 1998, was promoted to Rescue Driver after graduation and was assigned to Station 1 where he remained for 6 months. For the next 2 years he was assigned to Station 27. When he was promoted to Captain, Muzik directed the department’s Capital Improvement Projects.
