AFD Fleet Maintenance Workers Named City Employees of the Week
Jackson Hanawalt and Armando Gurule, both city employees with the Albuquerque Fire Department Fleet Maintenance Program, consistently go above and beyond the call of duty. They are being recognized for their efforts relating to a recent warehouse fire. On Wednesday, June 23, 2010, around 7:30 in the evening, a call came in regarding the fire that broke out at the warehouse.

Jackson Hanawalt and Armando Gurule, both city employees with the Albuquerque Fire Department Fleet Maintenance Program, consistently go above and beyond the call of duty. They are being recognized for their efforts relating to a recent warehouse fire. On Wednesday, June 23, 2010, around 7:30 in the evening, a call came in regarding the fire that broke out at the warehouse.
Hanawalt and Gurule not only helped by performing repairs on emergency vehicles at the scene of the fire, but additionally provided rehabilitation support. They worked along side the firefighters for several days helping to ensure the safety of the public.
Both Hanawalt and Gurule work on call 24-hours a day and seven days a week performing their duties as an Emergency Vehicle Technicians. Their continuous hard work and commitment has saved the department crucial fleet dollars.
“Both employees are dedicated city employees who continue to perform their assigned duties at exceptional levels”, said Mark R. Garcia Deputy Fire Chief. “They are exceptional employees with no performance issues, who routinely meet or exceed the high expectations that we place on them.”
