The ABQ BioPark offers two new workshop series at the Botanic Garden.

Jan. 24, 2019 - The ABQ BioPark is offering two new monthly workshops at the Botanic Garden in 2019.

The Botanic Garden Workshop series takes place on the fourth Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-noon, starting January 26. These workshops will cover a range of topics including art, plants, insects and gardening techniques for participants of all levels of knowledge and interests. Workshops are two hours long and are taught by local experts and enthusiasts.

The Heritage Farm Home Vineyard Workshop series occur on the second Saturday of each month from 9-11:30 a.m. starting on February 9. Taught by Gill Giese, PhD, New Mexico State University Extension viticulture specialist, these workshops will focus on different topics related to home vineyards.

"We want to provide learning opportunities for all ages through hands-on activities that engage participants," said Pamela Dupzyk, ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden education coordinator. "Attendees will learn how to connect directly with their environment and hone their observation skills. Workshops will engage participants with various activities like learning to capture nature on paper, making jewelry and learning how to improve soil for their home gardens."

The workshops are included with the cost of regular admission and will occur inside the Heritage Farm Farmhouse. Occasionally, there is an additional materials fee. Please check the website for more information.

In order to better serve families, a number of the workshops are family-friendly (noted below).
