ABQ BioPark Zoo Celebrates "Pachy-palooza"

Learn about the BioPark's pachyderms: elephants, rhinoceroses and hippopotamuses.
Sept. 12, 2018 - The ABQ BioPark Zoo is paying tribute to its pachyderm residents - elephants, hippos and rhinos - this weekend with "Pachy-palooza."
The event is from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.15, at the hippo, rhino and elephant habitats.
"Join the ABQ BioPark on this fun-filled day," said Audrey Lenzi, ABQ BioPark Zoo science education coordinator. "You will learn all about pachyderms around the world and your very own animals at the zoo."
Hands-on discovery stations at the elephant exhibit will educate guests about the natural history and diet of each species. Volunteers will also tell visitors what they can do to make a difference for pachyderms in the wild.
Visitors also get the chance to create their own enrichment items, which will be used as food discovery items in the elephant exhibit.
