New Initiative Launched to Address Affordable Housing Shortage in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County

ALBUQUERQUE - The City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County announced the creation of the Middle Rio Grande Housing Collaborative (MRGHC), a joint effort to tackle the growing need for affordable housing in the region.

The MRGHC is actively seeking a Planning & Operations Director to lead the initiative's establishment and ongoing activities. This full-time position will play a crucial role in developing the Collaborative's structure, securing funding, and managing projects aimed at increasing the availability of affordable housing units.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree (preferably a Master's) in Public Administration, Business Administration, Executive Management, or Social Services. Prior experience in administration management, grant development, public policy development, and financial operations is highly desirable.

Employment is pending a successful background check, a valid New Mexico driver’s license and no more than one (1) moving violation in the past year. All new employees are hired subject to a one-year probationary status. Salary commensurate with experience. The MRGHC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Mission as stated in the JPA: 

Under the agreement, the City and County will exercise common powers over the Middle Rio Grande Housing Collaborative, a joint effort to address the shortage of safe, affordable, and sanitary housing. The Middle Rio Grande Housing Collaborative will be made up of five (5) members chosen by the City and the County and will operate while the City and County housing authorities continue to independently perform their administrative duties. The purpose of the Middle Rio Grande Housing Collaborative is to finance and prioritize affordable housing through long-range planning for the development and redevelopment of property by studying and reporting on current affordable housing, services, and gaps in services.
