Conversation: Malinche in Literature
Wednesday, July 6, 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
One of the most enduring figures from Mexico’s colonial history, La Malinche continues to intrigue in the present day, in particular among Chicanx and Mexicanx cultural producers. In this conversation, UNM professors Anna M. Nogar and Laura Belmonte will discuss literary palimpsests of Malinche, connecting feminist and cultural themes across literature, history and art.
Dr. Anna M. Nogar is Associate Professor of Hispanic Southwest Studies in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Laura Elena Belmonte is Assistant Professor of Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of New Mexico. This conversation is presented in collaboration with the Latin American and Iberian Institute.
