In this nine-week virtual Dance & Movement workshop presented by Keshet Dance and Albuquerque Museum, students aged 55+ will explore the themes, art, and music connected with the exhibition Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism. Participants will learn concepts and tools of contemporary dance improvisation and performance while exploring the art, themes, and historical context of the exhibition. The artwork will serve as inspiration for movement invention, creative exploration, discussion, and connection. Participants will collaboratively create, rehearse, and polish their dance works, which will be presented at the end of the class through a virtual live or pre-recorded performance.
