The driving force behind this collage class will be the elements and principles of design.  Every week a new collage concept or technique will be paired with a design element or principle.  The design elements and principles that will be studied will be line, shape, color, balance, emphasis, space, and value.  Others may be introduced depending on time.  Collage techniques and concepts that may be explored include zines, pamphlet stitch artist books, found photograph collages, image transfers, and monochromatic collage techniques to name a few.  Every time a new design element or principle is introduced there will be examples from art history and the museum collection.  There will be demos and discussions when needed.  This class is open to all skill levels and interests. It will build upon the first collage course offered at the Albuquerque Museum in the summer of 2020, but everyone can take this class without any previous collage experience.

The supplies for this class will be provided by the Museum. If possible, students will be asked to pick up supplies at Albuquerque Museum (2000 Mountain Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104); a Museum staff member will contact students to arrange pick up.
