Air Quality Permit Application, University of New Mexico, 2400 Marble Ave. NE

University of New Mexico requests to modify an existing air quality permit in Application #1968-M1

University of New Mexico has submitted an application for a new or modified air quality construction permit to the Air Quality Program (Program) of the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department. The application was received by the Program on January 8, 2018. The owner of the facility is University of New Mexico, 1800 Roma Ave. NE. The facility, Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center, is located at 2400 Marble Ave. NE (Building 234). This application file has been assigned Permit Application No. 1968-M1.


The application is requesting to construct a new 36 horsepower, Environmenntal Protection Agengy Tier IV emission certified, diesel fired internal combustion engine coupled to a 20 kilowatt emergency electrical generator.   The new unit will replace an old existing generator engine.  The application seeks to restrict the unit to 200 hours per year of operation. The purpose of the unit is to provide emergency backup electrical power in the case of the unavoidable loss of commercial power.

Comment on this Application

If a person wishes to receive notification of the availability of the Program’s analysis for their review and comment, they must express that interest in writing to the Program before the end of the public comment period on March 3, 2018. Interested persons may submit written comments and evidence, request a public information hearing, or both on the permit application to the Program. Comments will be accepted and considered if postmarked by the end of the public comment period.
