What is News?
Create a News item when you have an announcement. Did your department just send out a press release? It's news. Is a park closed for renovation? Is there a new exhibit at the Balloon Museum? News. The newborn Harbor Seal at the BioPark? Definitely news.
What is an Event?
If it is something the public can attend, it's an event. Want to advertise a concert, lecture, gallery opening, or festival? Create an event item. Will there be a celebration when the park reopens? Let people know through an event item. Will there be a naming ceremony for the new baby seal? That's an event. An event has a specific place and time.
