Entertainment at the Alvarado - a great reason to miss the bus!
ABQ RIDE has proudly offered public transportation to its citizens from the 1880s, first using horse-drawn wagons with benches, moving to horse-drawn streetcars on rails between Old Town and what is known today as Downtown, through today's modern buses and paratransit vans.
The Alvarado Transportation Center (ATC) was built atop the original Alvarado Hotel, incorporating graceful Territorial-style architecture, as well as the culture and history of the beautiful city of Albuquerque. Today, ABQ RIDE still aims to enhance the transit experience for its 13 million+ passengers and visitors who annually pass through the ATC. The Entertainment at the Alvarado series offers a variety of events at the ATC and created a hub of entertainment, culture, art and history in the heart of historic Downtown.
- Friday, April 26. The High Desert Pipes and Drums will play traditional music from the highlands of Scotland.
- Saturday, May 11. The Great Bus Race, a scavenger hunt for people of all ages, using alternative transportation.
- Friday, May 24. ABQ RIDE and Festival Flamenco Internacional Kick-Off Event.
- Friday, June 14. National Flag Day. ABQ RIDE will honor its veterans with Presentation of the Colors and a brass band concert!
