West Downtown Businesses Raising Money for Homeless Teens

Throughout the duration of Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART) construction, businesses in the area of Central Avenue between 10th Street and San Pasquale—now known as “West Downtown”—have been collaborating to support the community in new ways. As part of these efforts, West Downtown businesses have committed to raising $25,000 for New Day Youth & Family Services, which helps provide a safe haven for homeless teenagers.

West Downtown t-shirts are available for purchase at participating businesses. Proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go to New Day Youth & Family Services. If people wear their West Downtown t-shirt, they may be receiving a special surprise.

“This is an incredible effort in which local businesses are working together and showcasing the ways Albuquerque is growing together,” said Mayor Richard J. Berry. “I commend West Downtown businesses for their community involvement in giving back to local non-profits. I encourage all in Albuquerque to show your support for all Central Avenue businesses.”
