ALBUQUERQUE- Mayor Martin J. Chávez and ABQ Ride Director Greg Payne are pleased to announce the success of the most recent Rapid Ride route. The Green Line Rapid Ride, #777 had more than 42,000 passenger boardings August 15th – August 31st.

The Green Line began weekend service on August 15, 2009, followed by a weekday kick-off celebration on August 17, 2009. “This route is forging new ground for a Rapid Ride,” said Mayor Martin Chávez. “I am pleased to see Albuquerque ditch their single occupancy vehicles and utilize our city’s expanding public transit system.”

ABQ Ride Director Greg Payne says, “It is encouraging to see the metro area accept and implement this new route in their daily commute. I look forward to seeing the popularity of this new route continue to grow in passenger boardings.”

The Green Line connects with the Rapid Ride Red Line and Blue Line: creating fast and efficient articulated bus service that link riders to major attractions and traffic veins throughout the metro area. The new Green Line had about 220 more passenger boardings than the Red Line’s début in 2004.

Green Line service runs 7 days a week from downtown Albuquerque, east to Tramway and Central. For more information on the Green Line CLICK HERE.
