ART Encourages Drivers & Pedestrians to Follow Safety Precautions

11/10/16

The Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART) construction team is reminding motorists and pedestrians that construction is ongoing throughout the construction corridor – Coors Boulevard to Louisiana Boulevard. People should exercise caution whether on foot, on a bicycle or in an automobile.

Drivers should be aware that lower speed limits are in effect, and speeding fines are doubled during construction. Likewise for pedestrians, jay walking, which is always illegal, is now not only illegal, but completely unsafe. The only safe place for pedestrians and bicyclists to cross Central Avenue is at designated cross walks.

More information on exactly where construction is happening is available in a variety of different ways:

  • The ART app is available both in the Apple App Store and Android Play Stores by searching for Albuquerque Rapid Transit;
  • Weekly text and email alerts are being sent out Friday afternoons and Monday mornings. People can sign up at www.brtabq.com;
  • Information is available by calling the ART hotline at 505-398-4ART (4278).
